SALEM, Ore. --
Horacio Godinez (So.) from The Evergreen State College advanced into the semifinals of the 141-pound weight class on the first day of the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Wrestling Championships on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Salem Armory Auditorium. Godinez will compete in the championship semifinals of the double-elimination tournament on Saturday.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Godinez defeated Mason Thynes from Corban University 11-0 on a major decision in the second round. During the quarterfinals, Godinez shut out Daniel Guerrero of Eastern Oregon University 4-0. Against Guerrero, Godinez earned a takedown with 1:52 to go in the first period and added an escape with 12 seconds left in the second period.
This year, Godinez has earned a 32-3 overall record. On Saturday, in the semifinals at 141 pounds, he will take on Dylan Clark from Southern Oregon University.
Godinez was one of nine wrestlers competing for Evergreen at the CCC Championships. Other wrestlers for the Geoducks on Friday were

Vilona lost a close match in the first round of consolation play at 157 pounds, when he was defeated by Carlos Martinez of Simpson University (Calif.) 12-9 in overtime. Martinez forced the overtime by recording a takedown with 11 seconds left in the third period and also earning a point for riding time. Martinez won the match with a takedown in overtime.
The CCC has 11 member colleges and universities that compete in men's wrestling. Six CCC teams were ranked in the final NAIA Men's Wrestling Top 25 Poll this season. Three teams, including Evergreen, received votes in the final poll but were not ranked in the Top 25.
