WICHITA, Kan. --
Shannon Workinger (Sr.) and
Haley Le (So.) have clinched All-American honors with their efforts on the first day of the 2026 NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships on Friday, March 13. The tournament, held at the Heartland Credit Union Arena, will conclude on Saturday, March. 14.
When Saturday's action gets underway with the morning session at 10 a.m. CDT / 8 a.m. PDT, Workinger will be competing in the championship semifinals of the 160-pound weight class. Le will start Saturday in the fifth round of consolation matches at 138 pounds. The morning session will end with the third, fifth, and seventh place matches in all 10 brackets. Later on Saturday, the Parade of All-Americans and Scholar-Athletes will begin at 6:15 p.m. CDT / 4:15 p.m. PDT, followed by the championship finals session at 7 p.m. CDT / 5 p.m. PDT.
Workinger, seeded #2 at 160 pounds, started the tournament with a bye in the opening round. In the second round, she defeated Vica Boskovic from Southern Oregon University with a 10-0 technical fall 1:49 into the match. During the quarterfinals, Workinger shut out Hailey Sutton from the University of Providence (Mont.) 9-0. Workinger built a 6-0 lead in the first period and added three points in the second period. On Saturday, Workinger's opponent in the championship semifinals will be Bo Geibe of Indian Tech.Â
Le began the day with a bye at 138 pounds. She lost in the second round to #3-seeded Samantha Barragan from Texas Wesleyan University with a fall at 4:00. Le held a 6-4 lead at the end of the first period, but Barragan moved in front 8-6 before earning the pin. After receiving a bye in the second consolation round, Le pinned #5-seeded Serenity De La Garza of Missouri Valley just 1:29 into their match in the third consolation round.Â
In the fourth round of consolation matches, Le was victorious with an 11-0 technical fall against Christina Jaen, seeded #8, from Life University (Ga.). The match ended after just 1:36. When action resumes on Saturday, Le will take on Skylur Lewis from University of St. Mary (Kan.) in the fifth consolation round. The winner will advance into the consolation semifinals.
Also competing for Evergreen during the first day of the NAIA Championships on Friday were
Nizhoni Tallman (Sr.) and
Ellabelle Taylor (Jr.). Tallman opened the tournament with a bye in the 110-pound bracket. In the 124-pound weight class, Taylor lost in the first round to #4-seeded Vicky Baez-Dilone from William Penn University (Iowa)Â 18-8 on a technical fall. The match was tied at 8-8 after one period.
Taylor lost in the consolation bracket to Kaylee Annis of Southern Oregon, 8-4. Taylor started the match by taking a 4-0 lead with 1:46 left in the first quarter, but Annis rallied for the win.
In the second round of the championship bracket, Tallman was defeated by the #6 seed, Avy Perez of William Penn, 9-1. In the second round of the consolation bracket, the match between Tallman and Julia Snyder from Rochester Christian University (Mich.) ended in a 0-0 tie, but Snyder received the win on criteria.
Tallman and Taylor were both competing at the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships for the third time. Tallman placed eighth and earned All-American honors at the 2025 NAIA Championships.
