OLYMPIA, Wash. – Women's wrestler
Shannon Workinger (Sr.) from The Evergreen State College has been named Academic All-District on the NAIA Women's At-Large Team for the 2025-26 academic year as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
CSC Academic All-District honorees needed a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher and were required to be at least a sophomore academically and in terms of eligibility. In addition, qualifying student-athletes in women's wrestling must have competed in at least 75% of the tournaments and dual meets played by their teams or have participated in a conference championship meet. Evergreen does not give letter grades, but Workinger's academic accomplishments were converted to a 4.0 GPA scale.

Workinger recently graduated from Evergreen this spring with a focus on Business. She is from Quincy, Washington, and attended Quincy High School. In 2025-26, she was selected as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and was chosen Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference.
She earned second place in the 160-pound weight class at the 2026 NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships to earn All-American honors. She was the first Evergreen women's wrestler to compete in an NAIA title match. Mercy Adekuoroye from Wayland Baptist University (Texas) defeated Workinger 6-3 in the championship match.
In addition, Workinger won the title in the 160-pound weight class at the 2026 CCC Championships. She shut out Aspen Dodge from the University of Providence (Mont.) 9-0 in the championship match to claim the title.
Prior to redshirting at Evergreen in 2024-25, Workinger was an NAIA All-American in the 155-pound weight class twice at Menlo College in Atherton, California. She placed fifth in the NAIA in 2022-23 and was third in the NAIA in 2023-24.

Workinger completed the 2025-26 season with a 14-1 record (.933) for the second-best winning percentage for an Evergreen wrestler in a single season. Including her two seasons at Menlo, she achieved a 58-10 career record (.853).
In the spring of 2025 and the spring of 2026, Workinger participated in the USA Women's Wrestling National Championships in the Under-23 division, as she took second place each year. Workinger was second in the 68-kilogram weight class (149.9 lbs.) in 2025 and placed second in the 72-kilogram weight class (158.7 pounds) in 2026. She received USA Wrestling All-American honors both seasons and qualified for the USA National Team both years.
