TACOMA, Wash.Claire Ryan (Jr.) set The Evergreen State College record in the women's hammer throw at the PLU Open, hosted by Pacific Lutheran University on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. Ryan and two other Geoducks, Paul Hull-Stewart (Jr.) in the men's hammer throw and Dani Buttrell (So.) in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, qualified for the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with their performances.

The Geoducks excelled at the meet despite lots of snow and rain.

"The athletes were stronger than the conditions, and we are so thrilled to add more conference qualifiers!" said Evergreen Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Katie Burnett. "It snowed, it rained, and snowed some more, but that wasn't enough to stop our team from getting out there and competing."
