Wright Sets School Record in 100 meters at Ed Boitano Invite

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College track and field teams opened the 2026 outdoor season on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at the Ed Boitano Invitational, hosted by the University of Puget Sound. DeAndre Wright (Fr.) set the Evergreen record in the men's 100-meter dash in 10.97 seconds. In addition, Wright qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships in the 100-meter dash and the triple jump, while four other Geoducks also qualified for the CCC meet.

Wright's record-setting time placed him ninth out of 56 runners in the 100-meter dash. In the triple jump, Wright's top mark was 12.80 meters (42' 0") as he took fifth place. It was the third-best triple jump in Evergreen history. He was just 0.04 meters (1.5") out of fourth place and just 0.14 meters (5.5") out of second place.

Joining Wright as qualifiers for the CCC Track and Field Championships were Max Baeder (Jr.), Jackson Rye (Jr.), Jarvae Lindsay (Fr.), and Haleigh Hanson (So.). Baeder registered a time of 31:58.72 in the men's 10,000-meter run for the second place on Evergreen's all-time list. Rye earned the fourth-fasted time at Evergreen in the men's 10,000 in 32:26.61.

Lindsay achieved a top distance of 12.65 meters (41' 6") to finish in sixth place in the men's triple jump while moving into fourth on the Geoducks' all-time list. Hanson earned a top mark of 33.06 meters (108' 5") in the women's discus throw as she took eighth place. Hanson's throw ranks fourth all-time at Evergreen.

Also competing well for the Geoducks was Evan Williams (Jr.) in the men's 5,000-meter run. He completed the race in 15:55 for the 10th-fastest time in school history. He took seventh place in the meet.

The Evergreen track and field teams will be back in action at the PLU Open on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. The meet will be held on the Pacific Lutheran Campus in Tacoma, Washington.
