EUGENE, Ore. -- The Evergreen State College athlete
Dani Buttrell (So.) qualified for the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships in the women's 1,500-meter run at the Oregon Team Invite on Friday, April 17, hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field. She took fourth place in her heat while setting a personal record.
Buttrell completed the 1,500-meter run in 4:44.46. She moved into 36th place on the NAIA national performance list. At Oregon, Buttrell placed 32nd overall. She trailed 27 NCAA Division I runners, two unattached competitors, and two NAIA athletes.
Prior to the Oregon meet, Buttrell's top time in the 1,500 was 4:59.44 at the Linfield Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational on April 4. She lowered her time by 14.98 seconds on Friday.
Buttrell has qualified for the CCC Championships in two events. Earlier this season, she qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her best time in the steeplechase so far this season was 11:34.08 at the Whitworth Peace Meet on April 3.
The Evergreen men's and women's track and field teams also competed in several field events on Friday at the Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invitational. Friday's events were hosted by Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon. The Geoducks will continue to participate in the Larry Byerly Invitational on Saturday, April 18 at Eldon and David Fix Track on the L&C campus in Portland, Oregon.
This season, Evergreen has qualified 13 athletes to compete at the CCC Championships with a total of 17 entries. The championship meet will be held May 8-9 at Banner Bank Track on the campus of Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon.
