BILLINGS, Mont. - Evergreen managed to put five shots on goal Friday afternoon but couldn't hold back the the host Rocky Mountain College Bears, who took a 4-0 win in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action at Wendy's Field.
The Geoducks (3-13-0 overall, 2-9-0 CCC) close out their season against the host College of Idaho Coyotes on Sunday afternoon in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Bears (10-5-1, 6-4-1), who picked up their fourth consecutive shutout and sixth straight win, assured themselves of a berth in the conference postseason tournament with the victory. They took a total of 28 shots and placed 14 of them on target in securing the win.
Rocky opened the scoring in the fourth minute, with Mhari Smith finding space in the box, receiving a pass from Rita Marshall and firing home from about 12 yards out. The other three goals came in the second half, including two within 33 seconds of each other. The hosts made it 2-0 in the 58th minute with Lauryn Gamache notching her 14th goal of the season, and the third came from Hannah Borgel on an assist from Alexis Robbins at the 84:20 mark. Shasta Grant ended the scoring at 84:53, with Gamache getting the assist.
Evergreen forced five saves from Rocky goalkeeper Maia Wetzel, with
Delaney Rice getting three of those on-frame efforts.
Megan Breckenridge was credited with 10 saves in goal for the Geoducks.
