With two goals in the first half, Evergreen men's soccer opened the 2019 season with a 2-1 win over visiting University of Fraser Valley on Wednesday at the Geoducks Pitch.
Evergreen got on the board at 30:25, after Wylie Suda followed a kick into the back of the net. Not more than five minutes later, Mitchell Balmer passed the ball over to Maxton Hauser and he kicked the ball into the back of the net.
University of Fraser Valley answered with a goal of its own at 62:33 by Manpal Brar.
Both teams attacked the ball in the middle, Fraser Valley recorded 11 shots but only four were on goal, while Evergreen had seven shots with five on goal.
Hunter Bowman was in the net for Evergreen and recorded the win and had three saves.
Evergreen will be back on the Geoducks Pitch on Friday at 1 p.m. against Douglas College and will face Tacoma Community College at 4 p.m. on Saturday in a scrimmage.
