OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to defeat Multnomah 2-0 Friday afternoon at the Geoduck Pitch. This is the second win for the Geoducks.
Madison Spenker scored her fourth goal for the season as
Julia Hass passed Spenker the ball on the right side of the goal and Spenker hit the left side of the goal for the score.
The final goal of the game came when Spenker passed the ball to
Sam Lindsay, who hit the right side of the net. That was Lindsay first goal in a Geoduck uniform.
Lucky Backus was back in the net for Evergreen to pick up the win and her first shutout of the season. She had three saves for the match.
Evergreen shot the ball 31 times to Multnomah's four.
"A fantastic effort today all the way around," said head coach
Steve Schmidt. "A much deserved clean sheet for our back line and goalkeeper, great possession and energy through the midfield and relentless attacking from our front line. Credit to Multnomah for their determination throughout making it difficult for us to break through for long stretches of the match. I'm really happy the group was reward for their work today. We are excited to carry this forward into tomorrow's match."
The Geoducks are back in action tomorrow at home to see Warner Pacific at 3 p.m. on the Geoduck Pitch.
