Evergreen Recreation and Athletics Hall of Fame
The Evergreen State College Recreation and Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes members of the Evergreen community who have made significant contributions in all aspects of recreation and athletics. After a four-year hiatus, The Evergreen State College Recreation and Athletics Hall of Fame is proud to induct Evergreen alum and Head Men's Soccer Coach, John Purtteman, and the 2002 Evergreen Men's Basketball Team, on October 16th, 2022.
John Purtteman (1984)
John coached the Men's Soccer team for 15 seasons with a compiled conference record of 92 wins – 79 losses – 27 draws and the women's team for three seasons. He received The Cascade Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and 2016. His record high season was in 2015, when the team finished 13-3-2, with a .778 winning percentage establishing a new Evergreen men's soccer single-season record.Â
2002 Men's Basketball Team
This team was the 2002 Men's Basketball Conference Champions resulting in Evergreen's first appearance at the National Tournament, with a conference record of 18 wins – 2 losses.
