LEWISTON, Idaho – In their second conference contest, Evergreen lost to Louis-Clark State in straight sets, 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-23).
After a service error by LC State,
Kaiyah Brown and
Lucendy Perez teamed up for a block at the net that put the Geoducks up 2-0 to begin the set and the match. The warriors responded and took the lead and by the first timeout of the set, Evergreen found themselves down 14-8. After the timeout, TESC responded with a 5-1 run to close the deficit to 15-13. Lewis-Clark State went on to close out the first set, 25-18.
The Geoducks then dropped the second set 25-11.
The final set was the most competitive, as neither team led by more than three points and the lead swapped eight times throughout the set. A block by Brown and
Alice Bennett gave Evergreen a late 23-22 lead but the Warriors used a 3-0 run to close out the set, 25-23, and the match 3-0.
Sophia Scroggins led the team in kills with seven, followed by
Andee Nelson with six.
The team leaders in digs were Nelson with 10, followed by
Jenna Glenzel with nine and
Rylee Grams with eight
TESC had four matches in the contest from Perez (1),
Jessica Mitchell (2) and
Nizhoni Tallman (1).
Mitchell also led the assists category with 12 in the contest.
The Geoducks will have a short rest before continuing their CCC campaign on the road against Northwest University on Tuesday, September 5
