LEWISTON, Idaho --
Maloree Calzadillas (Sr., S) and
Molly Packer (Jr., L) each recorded nine digs for the Geoducks on Friday, Oct. 11, but Lewis-Clark State College defeated The Evergreen State College 3-0 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference match. The Warriors claimed the win 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.
LC State improved to 11-7 on the season, including 8-5 in the CCC. Evergreen fell to 3-13 overall, 3-9 in the CCC.
Sophia Scroggins (So., OPP/MB) topped the Geoducks with eight kills.
Yasmin Dilworth (Sr., OH) added six kills. Calzadillas contributed 12 assists in addition to supplying nine digs.
The Warriors were led by Juliauna Forgach Augilar and Taylor Boyce. Forgach Aquilar earned 13 kills and Boyce finished with 11 kills. LC State hit .347 as a team with 44 kills. Abbey Neff provided 12 assists, while Esther Kailiponi tacked on 11 assists and Teagan Scott achieved 10. Natany Felix Guimares was credited with 12 digs.
Lewis-Clark State surged out quickly in the first set, as the Warriors were in front 11-2 after 13 rallies. Evergreen eventually pulled within 19-12, but LC State scored the next two points. The Geoducks moved back within seven points at 21-14 on a kill by Dilworth and cut the margin to 22-16 on a service ace by
Jessica Mitchell (Jr., S). The Warriors closed the set with a 3-0 run.
The Geoducks rallied from an 8-2 deficit in the second set to get as close as 13-11 with a kill from
Kaiyah Brown (Sr., MB). Lewis-Clark State countered with an 8-1 run to claim a 21-12 lead following a combo block by Missy Mortensen and Anna Merrill.
In the third set, the Warriors grabbed a 7-1 lead, including four kills by Forgach Aguilar. The Warriors also led 11-2 and 20-12 on their way to the win.
Evergreen will continue CCC action with a match against Walla Walla University on Saturday, Oct. 12. The match will be held at Walla Walla Community College due to a conflict on the WWU campus. The team are set to get underway at 8 p.m. PDT.
