OLYMPIA, Wash. --
Peyton Rhyne (Sr., D) scored two goals and two assists, and
Danean Wurlitzer (Sr., M) provided three assists, leading The Evergreen State College to a 9-1 victory over Walla Walla University in women's soccer on Sunday, Oct. 20 at Geoduck Pitch. The Geoducks led 7-0 and halftime and held a 9-0 lead before the Wolves scored their first goal of the season.
Evergreen upped its record to 2-7-3 on the season. Walla Walla fell to 0-3-0. The Wolves are in their first season of women's soccer and are not competing in the Cascade Collegiate Conference this year.
The Geoducks led 3-0 just over 10 minutes into the game. Rhyne tallied the first goal only 63 seconds into the game. Her header from four yards was assisted by Wurlitzer on a corner kick.
Emma Stock (Grad., D) added a goal on another corner kick at 5:36, as Wurlitzer earned her second assist.
Cayla Muenchow (Sr., M) scored at 10:21 on an assist from Rhyne. Muenchow's goal was on a 25-yard shot.

Alexandra Foley (Sr., D), Rhyne, and
Brieanna Dell (Sr., F) expanded the margin to 6-0 at the 18:31 mark. Wurlitzer recorded an assist on Foley's goal.
Finley Gimelli Hemmi (Jr., F) provided Evergreen with the final goal of the half for a 7-0 edge. She scored on a tap-in near the left post after receiving a pass from
Chloe Bafus (Jr., F). The Geoducks achieved a 19-2 edge in total shots during the first half.
Evergreen completed its nine-goal output with scores at 48:03 by
Chloe Dolman (Sr., M) and at 50:11 by
Angela Celedon (Fr., M). Dolman scored ona 20-yard shot assisted by Rhyne. Celedon hit the net with a 25-yard free kick. The Wolves scored their only goal at 86:46 on a shot by Maria Bass with an assist from Emily Mijaljevic.
Amity Brookshire (Jr., GK) played the first half in goal for Evergreen and made one save. She was credited with the win.
Melina Grijalva (So., GK) played 25:43 in goal and Kate Gresham (So., GK) played the final 19:17. For Walla Walla, Alexis Pardo and Heidi Pinzon each made four saves while playing 45 minutes.
The Geoducks concluded the game with a 31-4 lead in total shots and a 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. Evergreen claimed a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
Up next for Evergreen is a game at the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana, on Friday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. MDT.
