Packer Supplies 15 Digs in Loss to #8-Ranked Corban

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Molly Packer (Jr., L) registered 15 digs for The Evergreen State College in a 3-0 loss to #8-ranked Corban University on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Costantino Recreation Center. Packer has contributed 269 digs on the season and is averaging 5.08 digs per set.

Corban won Saturday's match 25-8, 25-12, 25-14, as the Warriors improved to 14-2 overall, 10-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Evergreen dropped to 3-12 on the season, 3-8 in the CCC.

Evergreen players Ashley Walker Campbell (Jr., OPP) and Lucendy Perez (Sr., OH) each provided the Geoducks with seven kills. Perez earned her kills on just 12 attacks with no errors for a .583 hitting percentage. Maloree Calzadillas (Sr., S) was credited with 10 assists. 

The Warriors received 13 kills from Kindra Bittle and nine kills from Makayla Roginski. Abby Gundy produced 26 assists. Marissa Uehara achieved nine digs. Corban's strong offense finished with a .471 hitting percentage and just four attacking errors on 85 total attacks.

During the first set, Corban surged out to a 10-2 lead and the Geoducks were unable to recover. Bittle had three kills during the early run by the Warriors. 

Corban held a 10-5 lead in the second set, but Evergreen cut the margin to 10-8 with a kill by Sophia Scroggins (So., OPP/MB) and back-to-back kills by Perez. Corban replied with an 8-1 run for an 18-9 lead on its way to a 25-12 victory.

Evergreen scored first in the third set on a kill by Perez before the Warriors went on a 5-0 run. Corban later held a 10-5 lead on a kill by Bittle. The Geoducks never got closer as the Warriors took the set 25-14. Perez, who had three kills in the second set for Evergreen, added three more kills in the third set.

The Geoducks will play at Lewis-Clark State College on Friday, Oct. 11. Match time in Lewiston, Idaho, is 6 p.m. MDT.
