Evergreen Women's Soccer Falls to Oregon Tech 2-0

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Oregon Tech scored a goal in each half, as the Lady Owls defeated The Evergreen State College 2-0 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer game on Friday, Nov. 1 at Premier Washington. The game was moved to the artificial turf field in Puyallup due to wet grounds at Geoduck Pitch in Olympia, Washington.

OIT improved to 12-4-1 overall and to 8-3-0 in the CCC. The Geoducks fell to 3-9-3 on the season, 2-7-2 in the CCC.

The opening goal was scored at 20:36 by Kayla Ness on a 10-yard shot to the lower right corner of the goal as she took advantage of a loose ball. Oregon Tech remained in front 1-0 after 45 minutes.

Ness' sister, Kaelin Ness, added the second goal for the Lady Owls in the closing minutes at 85:07. She shot from 18 yards after receiving a through pass from Chloe Cook.

Oregon Tech outshot Evergreen 22-3 overall and 16-2 in shots on goal. Anna Varela (Jr., GK), who started in goal for the Geoducks, earned eight saves before Amity Brookshire (Jr., GK) took over in the goal in the second half. Varela made a couple of outstanding saves during her 45 minutes. Brookshire added five saves for Evergreen. Emma Stock (Grad., D) registered a defensive save for the Geoducks by keeping a shot from Kayla Ness out of the net at 56:21.

Sydni Nakamura of OIT recorded the shutout and made two saves. She saved a header by Cayla Muenchow (Sr., M) following a corner kick in the fifth minute and stopped a shot by Brieanna Dell (Sr., F) in the 82nd minute. 

The Geoducks will conclude the season on Saturday, Nov. 2 against Southern Oregon University. Game time at Centralia High School's Tiger Stadium in Centralia, Washington, is set for 12:30 p.m. PDT.
