Amity Brookshire (Jr.) and
Melina Grijalva (So.) combined for seven saves as The Evergreen State College tied Pacific Lutheran University, 0-0, in women's soccer on Friday, Sept. 13 at the PLU East Field. Evergreen ended the game at 0-2-1 on the season. The game was an exhibition for PLU, with the Lutes remaining 1-1-2 overall.
Brookshire started the game and registered four saves during the first half. Grijalva played the final 45 minutes and earned three saves. PLU starting goalie Abby Goetz did not make a save, while Mia Speir provided the Lutes with one save in the second half.
Pacific Lutheran outshot Evergreen 15-3 overall and 7-1 in shots on goal, but the Geoducks excelled on defense. The Lutes held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Evergreen was called for seven fouls and PLU registered six fouls. There were no yellow cards.
Brieanna Dell (Sr., F) took the Geoducks' only shot on target, forcing Speir to make a save. Jose Harris (Fr., D) and
Cayla Muenchow (Sr., M) each provided Evergreen with one shot. For Pacific Lutheran, Zoe Markquart contributed four shots. Meghan Hamell and Kylee Maytrychit each recorded two shots on goal.
The Geoducks will play at Eastern Oregon University on Friday, Sept. 20. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. PST.
