College of Idaho, Ranked 13th in NAIA, Downs Evergreen

CALDWELL, Idaho -- The Yotes from College of Idaho, ranked #13 in the NAIA, scored four goals in the first half and defeated The Evergreen State College, 5-0, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game on Saturday, Sept. 21. College of Idaho upped its record to 4-0-2 on the season, 2-0-0 in the CCC. Evergreen fell to 0-4-1 overall, 0-2-0 in the CCC.

Alexis Eiguren scored two goals for the Yotes, while Larissa Wagner, Eden Makaafi, and Abbi Roubidoux each tallied one goal. Wagner opened he scoring at 14:04 and Eiguren added a goal at 19:12. Makaafi scored with less than nine minutes remaining in the half and Roubidoux added a successful shot at 40:07. Eiguren registered her second goal of the game at 58:53.

The Yotes took 35 shots, including 22 shots on goal, while holding the Geoducks without a shot. Evergreen starting goalkeeper Anna Varela (Jr.) contributed 13 saves in the first half, while Amity Brookshire (Jr.) added four saves in the second half. Three goalkeepers split the shutout for College of Idaho, with Alivia Brenchley playing the first 45 minutes. Isabella Chianta and Hailey Jo Parks competed in the second half.

Evergreen will return home to host Northwest University in the first CCC home game of the season on Friday, Sept. 27. Game time at Geoduck Pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PDT.
