PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Evergreen State College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Portland Indoor #1 on Sunday, Jan. 26. The meet was hosted by the University of Portland.
Six women's athletes and five men's athletes participated for the Geoducks. Nine of the 11 Evergreen athletes competed in the mile run.
Madison Palek (So.) was the top finisher for Evergreen in the women's mile. She registered a time of 5:41.86 and placed 15th out of 32 competitors.
Sherlyn Perales (Fr.) took 16th place in 5:42.82.
Mara Schwenneker (Jr.) finished the race in 5:54.26 and Isabelle Trefts (Jr.) earned a time of 5:57.97.

In the men's mile,
Rowan Hicks (So.) led the Geoducks with a 10th place finish out of 36 entries in the event. Hicks completed the race in 4:36.08.
Luis Esquivel (Fr.) was timed at 4:46.83 for 18th place and
Harlan Estrada (Jr.) recorded a time of 4:49.82 to take 21st.
Kaleb Everson (So.) concluded the race in 5:18.99 and
River Scheuerell (So.) finished in 5:49.37.
Madeline Morgan (Jr.) earned a time of 2:05.49 for Evergreen in the women's 600-meter dash.
Nadya Miller (Jr.) completed the 200-meter dash in 39.15 seconds.
Up next on the Evergreen track and field schedules is the University of Washington Invitational on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1 in Seattle, Washington. The meet will be held at the Dempsey Indoor facility. Action will get underway with multi-events on Friday at 1 p.m. PST and on Saturday at 10 a.m. Running events will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Field events are set to start at 5 p.m. on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Geoducks also will compete at the Corban Indoor Open on Saturday, Feb. 1. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. PST in Salem, Oregon.
