EUGENE, Ore. -- The Evergreen State College trailed Bushnell University by a slim 1-0 score at halftime, but the Beacons added three goals in the second half to defeat the Geoducks 4-0 on Friday, Oct. 10 at Civic Park. Elidia Cervantes Carlos earned a three-goal hat trick for the Beacons.
Bushnell improved to 5-3-2 on the season, 4-2-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Evergreen slipped to 0-9-0 overall, 0-6-0 in the CCC.
Cervantes Carlos scored the only goal of the first half at 30:57. Kenedi McDonald provided an assist on the play.
Bushnell owned an 11-2 edge in total shots at halftime. Both of Evergreen's shots were on target forcing saves by the Beacons' starting goalkeeper, Ana Augusto, as she stopped a shot by
Rosalind Holt (Sr., M) at 22:25 and then saved a shot by
Izzy Widener (So., F) just over a minute later at 23:39.
In the second half, Cervantes Carlos finished her hat trick with goals at 57:20 and 63:35. Addy Morgan registered an assist on the first goal of the second half and Ohu Miles was credited with an assist on the next goal. Charlotte Vandercar scored the last goal for Bushnell on a shot at 66:30. Lexis Canyete-Asato registered an assist on the play.
Bushnell claimed a 19-3 overall shooting advantage, including a 13-2 margin in shots on goal. Cervantes Carlos led all players with seven total shots. She placed five of her shots on target.
Evergreen goalkeeper
Anna Varela (Sr.) made nine saves for the Geoducks. Augusto earned two saves for the Beacons while playing 75 minutes. Gabriella Montes played the last 15 minutes in goal ot help Bushnell record the shutout.
The Geoducks will compete at Corban University in Salem, Oregon, on Saturday, Oct. 11. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PDT.
