OLYMPIA, Wash. --
Angela Celedon (Sr., M) scored on a penalty kick just over five minutes into the second half to break a 2-2 tie and send The Evergreen State College on its way to a 3-2 win over Walla Walla University on Friday, Oct. 17 at Geoduck Pitch.
Emma Stock (Grad., D) earned a goal and an assist for the Geoducks.
Evergreen advanced its record to 1-10-0 on the season, 1-7-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Walla Walla slipped to 0-7-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the CCC.
The Geoducks outshot the Wolves 23-4, including a 12-3 advantage in shots on target. Allanah Rodriguez-Facio was credited with nine saves for WWU.
Evergreen trailed 1-0 after Brianna Vidali-Rood scored for Walla Walla just 2:46 into the game. Vidali-Rood put an 18-yard shot into the upper right corner after receiving a pass form Cyan Quintero.
The Geoducks tied the score with a goal by
Madeline Dorendorf (Jr., F) at 24:33 on a 15-yard shot to the lower left corner of the net. Dorendorf's shot followed a lengthy pass from behind midfield by Stock, plus a cross from the right side by
Anna Mortensen (Jr., M). Stock and Mortensen each received an assist on the play.
Evergreen grabbed a 2-1 lead on Stock's goal at 38:03. Stock scored on a header from two yards immediately following a corner kick taken by
Macey Swensen (So., M). The Wolves tied the game with just over four minutes left in the first half on a penalty kick by Vicky Giardina at 40:45.Â
Celedon's winning penalty kick was recorded on the Geoducks' third shot of the second half. Celedon missed high at 47:50 following a yellow card foul on Laylani Facio of WWU.
Alexandra Foley (Sr., D) took a shot at 49:41 that was saved by Rodriguez-Facio. The foul that led to the penalty kick occurred in WWU's defensive 18-yard box at 50:12. Celedon sent the spot kick into the lower left part of the goal.
The Geoducks remained in front 3-2 for the remainder of the game.
Katie Gresham (Jr., GK) played all 90 minutes in goal for Evergreen, and made one save while receiving the goalkeeping victory. The Geoducks claimed a 7-0 edge in corner kicks. Celedon, Mortensen, Foley, andÂ

Evergreen will host Warner Pacific University on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Geoduck Pitch. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. PDT. Prior to the game, the Geoducks will honor the 12 seniors on this year's team.
