OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College earned a 1-1 tie with Warner Pacific University after
Madeline Dorendorf (Jr., F) scored a goal for the Geoducks with 2:06 left in the game on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Geoduck Pitch.
Jenessis Cortes scored the game's first goal for Warner Pacific earlier in the second half.
With the win, Evergreen moved to 1-10-1 overall, 1-7-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. WPU ended the game with a 3-8-2 record, including 2-5-1 in the CCC.
WPU outshot the Geoducks 11-9 overall and 7-4 in shots on target.
Katie Gresham (Jr. GK) registered six saves for Evergreen, while Kate Pomerinke made three saves for Warner Pacific.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead when Cortes shot into the net at 55:57 following a turnover by Evergreen. Dorendorf provided the Geoducks with the tying goal at 87:54. Both goals were recorded on shots from 25 yards out.
Dorendorf's goal was earned following a lengthy pass by
Angela Celedon (Sr., M) from 10 yards behind the midfield stripe. Dorendorf and a defender for the Knights charged toward the ball. After a couple of bounces, Dorendorf gained possession and shot immediately into the lower left corner of the goal.
Anna Mortensen (Jr., M) topped Evergreen with three total shots, including a team-high two shots on goal. Cortes of WPU also took three shots overall and had two shots on goal.
The Geoducks attained a 1-0-1 record over the weekend. On Friday, Oct. 17, Evergreen downed Walla Walla University 3-2 at Geoduck Pitch.
Evergreen will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. PDT.
