Corona Parker (Sr.) from The Evergreen State College set a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles during the women's indoor pentathlon competition at the Riverfront Invitational and Multis at The Podium on Thursday, Feb. 6. Parker recorded an overall score of 2,929 points in the five events of the pentathlon.
Parker registered a time of 9.93 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to earn her top score of the pentathlon with 808 points. She added 712 points by clearing 1.58 meters (5' 2.25") in the high jump. She was just 0.03 meters (1") away from the school record she set in the high jump at 1.61 meters (5' 3.25") at the UW Invitational on Jan. 31.
The pentathlon competition also included the shot put, long jump, and 800-meter run. In the shot put, Parker earned a top throw of 8.87 meters (29' 1.25"). She recorded a top distance of 4.85 meters (15' 11") in the long jump, and she was timed at 2:52.94 in the 800-meter run.
Parker finished in 17th place overall. The field of 22 competitors featured mostly NCAA Division I and unattached athletes.
The Evergreen track and field teams will continue to compete at the Riverfront Invitational and Multis on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8. Action will begin at 1:30 p.m. PST on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
