PORTLAND, Ore. -- Several athletes on The Evergreen State College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Portland Indoor #2 on Sunday, Feb. 9. The meet featured track events but did not include any field events. The Geoducks participated in the women's 400-meter dash, the women's mile run, the men's mile run, and the mixed 4 x 400-meter relay.
Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) set a personal record in the women's mile. She completed the race in 5:42.01.
Madison Palek (So.) finished the mile just behind Trefts and registered a time of 5:43.51.
In the women's 400-meter dash,
Maddie Morgan (Jr.) ran for the Geoducks. She was timed at 1:18.65.
The men's mile run included four Evergreen athletes.
Rowan Hicks (So.) crossed the finish line in 4:31.14. He was 21st out of 48 competitors. His time was 0.22 faster than his result of 4:31.36 in the mile run at the Riverfront Invitational and Multis in Spokane, Washington, on Saturday.
Harlan Estrada (Jr.) completed the men's mile at Portland in 4:41.22.
Evan Williams (Jr.) earned a time of 4:46.18, and
Osvaldo Calderon (Fr.) was timed at 4:57.77.
The meet ended with the mixed 4 x 400-meter relay. Evergreen's relay unit included
Iris Campesino (Sr.) and Morgan from the women's track and field team, and
Luis Esquivel (Fr.) and Rowan HIcks (So.) from the men's track and field team. Campesino, Morgan, Esquivel, and Hicks combined for a time of 4:27.81.
Up next for the Geoducks will be the UW Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington, on Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15. The meet will be held at the Dempsey Indoor track and field facility.
