Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) provided The Evergreen State College with a first place finish in the women's 1,500-meter run at the PLU Invite, hosted by Pacific Lutheran University on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15.
Trefts won the 1,500 with a time of 5:14.19. She earned a margin of victory of 3.50 seconds. Jessalyn Roble of PLU was second in 5:17.69. Alana Lim from University of Puget Sound placed third at 5:18.19.
Three Geoducks placed in the top nine in the women's 5,000-meter run.
Sherlyn Perales (Fr.) was second in 18:50.72 and Trefts was third in 18:52.59.
Madison Palek (So.) placed ninth with a time of 19:27.57. Erin Schmidlin from Puget Sound won the 5,000 at 18:28.65.
The times for Perales, Trefts, and Palek in the 5,000 placed all three competitors in the top 10 all-time at Evergreen. Perales is fourth on the all-time list, while Trefts is fifth and Palek is eighth
Rowan Hicks (So.) of Evergreen earned seventh place out of 31 athletes in the men's 1,500-meter run by finishing the race in 4:10.93. He was just 0.09 out of sixth place and 0.91 out of fifth. Hicks registered a time of 2:03.82 while competing in the 800-meter run. On the Geoducks' all-time list, Hicks moved into fifth in the 1,500 and into 10th in the 800.
In the women's discus throw,
Jalyn Sackrider (Sr.) qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with a toss of over 35 meters. Exact marks were not immediately available.
"I am really proud of the way we competed this weekend. We had a lot of personal bests, a conference qualifying mark, and a victory in the women's 1,500!" Evergreen Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

The Evergreen track and field teams are scheduled to compete at the Oregon Preview on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. The meet will be held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
