TACOMA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College track and field teams were led by strong performances from
Corona Parker (Sr.),
Izabelle Trefts (Jr.),
Rowan Hicks (So.), and
Abigail Strickland (Sr.) at the Puget Sound Invitational on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13. The meet was held on the University of Puget Sound campus, with the hammer throw on Saturday and all other events on Sunday.
Parker took first place in the women's high jump. She cleared 1.63 meters (5' 4.25") to win the event. She cleared 1.53 meters on her first attempt and was successful on her third attempt at both 1.58 meters and 1.63 meters. Second place went to Shay-Lah Squally of Olympic College at 1.53 meters (5' 0.25"). Squally claimed second on jumps, while Abigail Caprye of Pacific Lutheran University placed third after also clearing 1.53 meters.
Trefts earned second place in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:06.45. Erin Schmidlin of Puget Sound won the 5,000 in 18:22.31. Brooklyn Glidersleeve-Stiles of Puget Sound took third in 19:08.58.

In the men's 1,500-meter run, Hicks placed third in 4:09.86 as he set a personal record in the event for the second time in three days.
Jaydon Blackburn (So.) of Evergreen ran the 1,500 in 4:11.78 for sixth place, while
Max Baeder (So.) completed the race in 4:14.14 to take seventh place for the Geoducks.
Strickland was third in the women's 400-meter hurdles and placed fourth in the women's hammer throw. Her time in the 400 hurdles was 1:12.02. In the hammer throw, she qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with a toss of 39.95 meters (131' 1"). Carly Wayss from Puget Sound won the women's hammer throw at 41.80 meters (137' 1").
Luis Esquivel (Fr.) of Evergreen completed the men's 5,000-meter run in 16:26.11. Teammate
Evan Williams (Jr.) reached the finish line in 16:45.07. In the men's 800-meter run, Blackburn was timed at 2:04.45 and Hicks achieved a time of 2:04.46.
Paul Stewart (So.) registered a top distance of 36.92 meters (121' 1") in the men's hammer throw. Also for the Geoducks,
Jonathan Van Pelt (Fr.) ran the men's 110-meter hurdles in 18.40 seconds and cleared 3.67 meters (12' 0.50") in the men's pole vault.
Up next for the Geoducks will be the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships. The decathlon and heptathlon competitions will be held at Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18.
