TACOMA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College athlete
Corona Parker (Sr.) won the women's high jump competition at the PLU Spring Invitational in track and field. The meet was held on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at Pacific Lutheran University.
Parker registered a winning height of 1.58 meters (5' 2.25") in the high jump. She took first place on jumps. Shay-Lah Squally from Olympic College, who also cleared 1.58 meters, earned second place. Abigail Caprye of Pacific Lutheran was third after clearing 1.53 meters (5' 0.25").
Also winning an event at the PLU Spring Invitational was
Jalyn Sackrider (Sr.), who took first place in the women's discus throw with a distance of 37.36 meters (122' 7"). Sackrider qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships. She won by more than a meter, as Eva Wirth from Pacific Lutheran finished second at 36.20 meters (118' 9"). Rosali Patterson from University of Puget Sound placed third at 35.20 meters (115' 6").
In the men's 1,500-meter run,
Max Baeder (So.) from Evergreen placed second out of 23 competitors with a time of 4:07.29.
Rowan Hicks (So.) took fourth place for the Geoducks in 4:10.44. Josiah Jaquith of Northwest University won the 1,500 in 4:04.68.
Hicks also earned fourth place in the 800-meter run. His time was 2:02.61. Baeder finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:52.05.
Paul Stewart (So.) of Evergreen was sixth in the men's hammer throw. Stewart registered a top distance of 38.26 meters (125' 6"). In the women's hammer throw,
Claire Ryan (So.) placed ninth with a mark of 38.20 meters (125' 4").
Evergreen is set to compete at the John Knight Twilight at Western Oregon University on Friday, April 11. The meet will take place at McArthur Field on the WOU campus in Monmouth, Oregon.
