KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Izzy Widener (So., F) converted a penalty kick in the first half for The Evergreen State College, but Oregon Tech defeated the Geoducks 3-1 on Saturday, Sept. 20 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action. Oregon Tech led 2-0 before Widener's goal, and the Owls added another goal in the second half.

Oregon Tech improved to 6-1-1 on the season, 2-0-0 in the CCC. The Geoducks fell to 0-5-0 overall, 0-2-0 in the CCC.

The Owls grabbed a 1-0 lead 19:45 into the match on an own goal by Evergreen. OIT doubled its lead when Raeah Raymondo scored about four minutes later with an assist from Jaylee Curran. Evergreen cut the margin to 2-1 with Widener's penalty kick at 40:47. The penalty kick was awarded when the Owls committed a foul in the Oregon Tech defensive 18-yard box. Widener sent the spot kick past goalkeeper Elle Hillar.

OIT gained some breathing room in the second half on a goal at 63:31 by Claire Owen. The scoring play included an assist by Miranda Valle.

During the game, the Owls gained a 19-4 advantage in total shots and claimed an 11-1 margin in shots on target. Widener led the Geoducks with three total shots. Kaelin Ness and Naaliyah Robinson each took three shots for OIT. 

Evergreen goalies Anna Varela (Sr.) and Katie Gresham (Jr.) each played 45 minutes. Varela registered four saves in the first half and Gresham added four saves in the second half. Hillar did not make a save for Oregon Tech.

The Geoducks will host Carroll College (Mont.) on Friday, Sept. 26. Game time at Geoduck Pitch is set for 12:30 p.m. PDT.
