Geoducks Add to Evergreen's All-Time Lists at Portland Indoor #1

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Six athletes on The Evergreen State College track and field teams moved onto the Geoducks' all-time lists with their efforts at the Portland Indoor #1, hosted by the University of Portland at the Chiles Center on Sunday, Jan. 25. A total of 14 Geoducks competed during the meet.

"It continued to be a great weekend for the Geoducks as we had much of the team opening up their indoor season and establishing themselves on the Evergreen top 10 all-time lists!" said Evergreen Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Katie Burnett.

For the Evergreen women's team, athletes with an all-time top 10 performance in Portland were Madison Palek (So.), Maddie Morgan (Sr.), and Sylvie Biesack (Fr.). Palek moved into fourth place all-time at Evergreen by completing the mile run in 5:40.62. Morgan claimed the fifth spot on Evergreen's list with a time of 32.65 seconds in the 200-meter run. Biesack grabbed eighth place on the school list in the mile at 5:49.55.

Geoducks who moved into the top 10 in men's indoor track and field for Evergreen on Sunday were Austin Major (So.), Evan Williams (So.), and Nathaniel Sanchez (Fr.). Major registered a time of 1:41.91 in the 600-meter run to claim third on Evergreen's list. Williams moved into sixth on the Geoducks' list with a time of 4:37.52 in the mile run. Sanchez completed the 800-meter run in 2:09.86, good for eight on the Evergreen all-time list.

The meet completed a strong weekend for the Geoducks, who also competed at two meets in Nebraska on Friday, Jan. 23. Izabelle Trefts (Sr.) and Palek both qualified for the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000-meter race walk at the Concordia University Polar Dog Invite. Trefts won the event on Friday in Seward, Nebraska. Alauna Carstens (Jr.) took first place in the 3,000-meter run at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolf Invitational, held in conjunction with the Mark Colligan Memorial meet at the Devaney Center Indoor Track in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Evergreen will be back in competition at the UW Invite on Friday, Jan. 30 and at the Mile City meet on Saturday, Jan. 31. Both events will be held at the Dempsey Indoor track and field facility on the campus of the University of Washington.
