SALEM, Ore. --
Izabelle Trefts (Sr.) from The Evergreen State College took first place in the women's 3,000-meter race walk to lead the Geoducks at the Corban Indoor/Outdoor meet on Saturday, Feb. 7. The meet was held at Corban University's Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Trefts won the race walk with a time of 13:22.64. Her time set the NAIA women's national record (women's only race) in the event. Trefts broke her own Evergreen record of 13:33.27, set at the Concordia University Polar Dog Invite on Jan. 23 in Seward, Nebraska, as she qualified for the 2026 NAIA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships with an "A" qualifying time. The new faster time for Trefts keeps her in the #1 spot on this year's NAIA performance list, which she leads by one minute. She also qualified for the 2026 USA Indoor Nationals.
Madison Palek (So.) also competed for the Geoducks in the 3,000-meter race walk at Corban. She registered a time of 16:17.93, which lowered her personal record by 38.56 seconds. She already owned an NAIA "B" qualifying time of 16:56.89 at the Concordia University meet which qualified her for the NAIA Indoor Championships.
The Evergreen men's and women's track and field teams participated in a total of eight events on the track and in four field events. The men's 3,000-meter run featured Evergreen's largest group of athletes at the meet with seven competitors representing the Geoducks.
Top finishers in the men's 3,000-meter run were
Max Baeder (So.),
Evan Williams (So.),
Jackson Rye (So.) and
Luis Esquivel (So.). Baeder placed ninth overall out of 25 runners with a time of 9:12.37. Williams finished in 10th place at 9:13.70. Rye earned a time of 9:17.85 and Esquivel crossed the finish line in 9:28.93.
In the women's 3,000-meter run,
Sylvie Biesack (Fr.) was timed at 11:26.36.
Soleil Bianchi (Fr.) added a time of 11:57.63 for the Geoducks.
Other top finishers on the track for Evergreen included
Nathaniel Sanchez (Fr.), who completed the men's 800-meter run in 2:09.73.
Dani Buttrell (Fr.) earned a time of 2:37.63 in the women's 800-meter run. In the men's mile run, Osvaldo Calderson (So.) took fourth place and provided the Geoducks with a result of 4:44.17, while
Daniel Sanchez (Fr.) was timed at 5:08.50.
Claire Ryan (So.) led Evergreen's throwers by placing third in the women's weight throw. Her top throw went 13.50 meters (44' 3.50"). Ryan was just 0.13 meters (5.25") away from the leader, unattached athlete Katie Mull, whose best mark was 13.63 meters (44' 8.75").
Paul Stewart (So.) registered a mark of 10.04 meters (32' 11.25") in the men's weight throw.
Tanisha Engram (So.) attained a distance of 7.66 meters (25' 1.75") in the women's shot put.
The Evergreen track and field teams will compete at the Portland Indoor #2 on Sunday, Feb. 8. Action will take place in the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus in Portland, Oregon.
