OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College women's basketball team created exceptional moments in 2025-26 despite a frustrating season for the Geoducks. Evergreen players missed many games due to injuries and illness, often leaving the team shorthanded throughout the season. Evergreen finished the year 1-22 overall, 1-19 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Even so, the Geoducks found ways to achieve significant individual and team accomplishments.
"They competed well under the tough circumstances with injuries and roster changes," Head Women's Basketball Coach
Derrick Pringle said. "We competed the best we could."
Jenna Glenzel (Sr., G) led the way by earning Honorable Mention All-CCC honors. Glenzel averaged 13.1 points per game to lead the Geoducks and tie for ninth in the conference. Glenzel set the school record with 89 steals while leading the CCC and tying for fourth in the NAIA with 3.9 steals per game. They broke the previous school record of 78 steals, set by Sammi Clark in 2011-12.
Glenzel was chosen as the CCC McDonald's Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025. For the season, Glenzel also led the Geoducks with 6.4 rebounds per game, while setting the Evergreen record with 91.3% free throw shooting (84 of 92). Glenzel's free throw percentage ranked second in the CCC and was tied for third in the NAIA.
Against Eastern Oregon University on Dec. 20, 2025, Glenzel earned nine steals to tie for third on Evergreen's all-time single game list. Glenzel achieved seven steals in a game three times during their career, including twice this season, to tie for sixth on the all-time list. Glenzel grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds at Warner Pacific University on Feb. 19, 2026.

Glenzel sank 170 of 209 career free throws to set the Evergreen record at 81.3%, and
recorded 154 career steals to rank second all-time for the Geoducks.
Bayleigh Harder (Sr., F/C) tied Glenzel for the team lead in scoring with 13.1 points per game. She led the team with 51 blocks, good for second on Evergreen's single season list.
Harder ranked first in the CCC and tied for sixth in the NAIA with 2.5 blocked shots per game. Harder blocked eight shots against Bushnell University on Jan. 31, 2026 to tie the school's single game record. She scored a season-high 27 points at Western Oregon University on Nov. 22, 2025.
The Geoducks picked up their only win of the season with a great effort on Senior Night against Walla Walla University on Saturday, Feb. 14. Evergreen won 62-53 as Harder scored 18 points and Glenzel added 17 points. Both players grabbed nine rebounds, while Harder blocked five shots and Glenzel earned three steals.
Sahara Soufi (Jr., G) tallied nine points,
Jesselle Victo Castillo (Jr., PG) contributed six points and four assists.
Prior to the Senior Night victory, the Geoducks honored the four seniors on the team. Seniors this season were Glenzel,
Amaialyne Cepeda (G),
Gina Brown (C), and
Shaunya Kahananui (F).
Pringle was pleased with the way Glenzel and Brown recovered from the injuries they received in 2024-25 to return to action for the Geoducks. "I was impressed with the bounce back of
Gina Brown and
Jenna Glenzel who both had ACL injuries in 2024," Pringle commented. "They were back to finish their careers."
During the season, Glenzel and
Amaya Afatasi (Jr., PG) each had a big game on the free throw line. Glenzel hit 9 of 9 free throws against Corban University on Jan. 3 and Afatasi was 8 for 10 on free throws against Western Oregon on Nov. 22.
Glenzel reached double digit scoring in 17 games for the Geoducks. Harder scored in double figures 15 times.
Academic All-CCC recognition went to Cepeda, Glenzel, and
McKenna Jacobs (So., C), with Glenzel receiving the honor for the second year in a row. Cepeda was chosen as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete this season.
Adding former players
Allison DeBerry and
Honey Let Padasdao to the coaching staff meant a lot to Pringle and the 2025-26 team.
"The addition of Al and Honey, coming on as mentors and assistant coaches, to help the new players was great for the team," Pringle noted. "Overall, a lot of small lessons were learned by the players and the coaches."
It was a frustrating season for Evergreen, but the Geoducks stayed together and battled as a team. They kept each other focused at practices and during games. They also supported each other throughout the season.
