Evergreen Finishes 89th in Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Evergreen State College placed 89th in the final 2025-26 Learfield Directors' Cup standings for the NAIA as released on June 9. Evergreen picked up points from NAIA postseason competition in women's indoor track and field, women's wrestling, and men's wrestling during the winter, as well as points from women's outdoor track and field in the spring. Evergreen earned a total of 197 points in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings.

At the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Evergreen earned 12th place in the women's team standings. Izabelle Trefts (Sr.) won her third NAIA Championship in the women's 3,000-meter race walk. It was the second consecutive NAIA title for Trefts at Evergreen.

Trefts won this year's indoor race walk in 13:11.95. It was the fastest 3,000-meter women's race walk time in NAIA and collegiate history. Also in the women's race walk at the NAIA Indoor Championships, Madison Palek (So.) placed fourth in 15:13.77, as she lowered her personal record by 64 seconds.

Alauna Carstens (Jr.) took second in the women's indoor 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:51.95, just six seconds behind the winner. Trefts, Palek, and Carstens were named NAIA All-Americans. 

Evergreen placed 15th in the team standings at the 2026 NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships. Shannon Workinger (Sr.) finished second in the 160-pound weight class and Haley Le (So.) placed fifth in the 138-pound weight class. Workinger and Le were chosen as NAIA All-Americans.

Also earning NAIA All-American status was Horacio Godinez (So.) at the 2026 NAIA Men's Wrestling Championships. He became Evergreen's first All-American in men's wrestling Godinez placed eighth in the 141-pound weight class and earned wins over the #1 and #6 ranked competitors. Even with just one competitor, Evergreen placed 33rd out of 63 teams in the tournament.

During the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Evergreen tied for 39th place in the women's team standings. Palek took third place in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 25:30.95. She was named All-American for the Geoducks.
 
University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) won this year's Learfield Directors' Cup in the NAIA. Indiana Wesleyan University finished #2 and Keiser University (Fla.) was #3. Marian University (Ind.) placed #4. Lindsey Wilson University (Ky.) was #5.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NAIA Championships.
