Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – The Evergreen State College shot just 29 percent from the field on Friday in dropping a 67-42 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball decision to the host Northwest Christian Beacons at Morse Event Center.
It was a tough start for the Geoducks (3-18 overall, 3-13 CCC), who are down to just seven players because of injuries. They never led, falling behind 25-7 through the first quarter against the fast-starting Beacons. In trailing 36-17 at the half, the Geoducks shot just 6-for-28 from the field, or 21 percent.
Northwest Christian took its largest lead of the game, 27 points, late in the fourth period.
Uriah Thomas played 37 minutes and tallied 14 points and six rebounds for Evergreen.
Gabi Fenumiai added 10 points and seven rebounds, and
Autumn Moorcroft led the team with eight rebounds.
Sami Pitts hit a trio of three-pointers in scoring a team-high 14 points for the Beacons, who also got 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks from Hanna Mack.
While the Geoducks shot just 29 percent, Northwest Christian shot 41 percent overall and 48 percent (11-for-23) from beyond the three-point line.
Evergreen returns to conference action at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow when it faces the Corban Warriors in Salem.
