Merrily Jones scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Evergreen past Christian Faith, 69-62, in an exhibition women's basketball game played Saturday afternoon inside Costantino Recreation Center.
Jones, a junior transfer center from Milwaukie, Ore., shot 9-for-15 from the field and grabbed four of her rebounds on the offensive end. Senior guard

Evergreen shot 35 percent (23-for-66) from the field and was an impressive 94 percent (17-for-18) at the foul line, including hitting all eight of its attempts while nursing a fourth quarter lead. The Geoducks also enjoyed a 55-38 edge in rebounds and compiled 17 assists on their 23 baskets.
Gabby Wade, a former standout at River Ridge High School in Lacey and at Western Washington University, tallied 21 points and 13 rebounds for Christian Faith, which also got 18 points from ReZina TecleMariam and 16 points and five steals from Darnellia Russell. Christian Faith, a club team based out of Bellevue, shot just 26 percent (17-for-65) from the field, 20 percent (5-for-25) from three-point range and 72 percent (23-for-32) at the charity stripe.
The Geoducks play at Grays Harbor CC next Saturday before officially opening their season at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore.
