ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: It has been a tough season for the Geoducks, who are 0-5 thus far in road contests. They average 61.5 points and 36.8 rebounds per game while their opponents come in with averages of 75.4 points and 44.1 rebounds. Senior guard
Alexcis Higginbotham is the leading scorer with 13.5 points per game, followed by senior forward
Deidra Miller with 11.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Junior post
Merrily Jones has been a solid contributor this season with averages of 10.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.75 blocks shots per game. In fact, Jones ranks fifth in blocked shots per game among all NAIA Division II women's basketball players.
ABOUT THE EAGLES: Something will have to give on Wednesday night. Not only are the Geoducks winless in five road games, Northwest U has a 0-8 record on its home court this season. Post Miranda Langenhorst has been outstanding for the Eagles with averages of 12.6 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. She has led her team in rebounding 13 times in 14 games and ranks third in NAIA Division II women's basketball in that category. In addition, Langenhorst is shooting 59.1 percent from the floor. As a team, the Eagles average 64.3 points and 42.4 rebounds while allowing averages of 73.3 points and 39.7 rebounds per game.
RECENT RESULTS: Both teams won on their home courts last season, the Geoducks by a 74-71 count in Olympia and the Eagles by an 86-80 overtime score in Kirkland. Northwest U has defeated Evergreen five times over the past six games dating to the 2014-15 season when Evergreen swept the two games.Â
LAST WEEK: Evergreen dropped a pair of conference road games last week in Oregon. On Friday night in Klamath Falls, Oregon Tech never trailed in taking an 88-53 victory.
Angela Sikora and
Alexcis Higginbotham both scored 13 points for the Geoducks. A night later in Ashland,
Anna Cook tallied 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Higginbotham had 16 points and six board but Southern Oregon ran away with an 84-65 victory.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The Geoducks return to Cascade Conference play on Saturday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30, when Northwest Christian and Corban, respectively, visit Costantino Recreation Center. Tipoff for both games is 5:30 p.m.
