Home Stand Opens With Coyotes, Mountaineers

COMING UP: Evergreen (0-17 overall, 0-13 CCC) opens its final home stand of the season this weekend with games against College of Idaho on Friday and No. 10-ranked Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. inside Costantino Recreation Center. The final home game of the season - and Senior Night - comes next Tuesday against Northwest University.

FOLLOW THE GEODUCKS: Evergreen basketball fans unable to attend this weekend's games can still follow their favorite team via live stats (http://sidearmstats.com/evergreen/wbball/xlive.htm) and video stream (https://portal.stretchinternet.com/evergreen/#).

ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: Down to six players, Evergreen is still in search of its first win of the season. The Geoducks have been outscored by 20.1 points and outrebounded by 10.3 per game this season. Junior guard Angela Sikora is the leading scorer on the active roster with 11.8 points per game, and she ranks 22nd nationally in made three-point field goals per game with 2.65. Senior forward Deidra Miller averages 11.6 points per game, while junior post Merrily Jones chips in 8.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and nearly 2.3 blocks per game, a stat that ranks her in the Top 10 in NAIA Division II women's basketball.

ABOUT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: The 'Yotes (11-11, 7-7) are in good position for one of eight conference tournament playoff spots entering the final three weeks of the season. Senior guard Alyssa Case leads her team with 12.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while senior guard Madison Holly chips in 11.2 points per game.

THE FIRST TIME: Angela Sikora scored a career-high 28 points but it wasn't enough to prevent Evergreen from dropping an 89-71 decision to College of Idaho on Jan. 5 in Caldwell, Idaho.

THE SERIES: College of Idaho leads the all-time series with Evergreen, 37-7, including a 16-5 record in Olympia.

ABOUT EASTERN OREGON: The Mountaineers (20-2, 14-0 CCC), who play Friday night at Northwest University, have won 20 straight and are ranked No. 10 in the current NAIA Division II women's basketball poll. Senior guard Maya Ah You Dias is the reigning conference player of the year and is having a monster senior season, averaging 21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and shooting 53.6 percent from the field. Other top players include senior guard Maren Herrud with 12.2 points per game and junior guard Jane Nelson with an average of 10.2 points. The Mountaineers outscore their opponents by 17.5 points and grab 8.7 more rebounds per game than their foes.

THE FIRST TIME: Eastern Oregon rolled to a 101-55 conference win over the Geoducks back on Jan. 4 in La Grande, Ore. Alexcis Higginbotham, Angela Sikora and Anna Cook all scored 14 points for the Geoducks, who also got 10 rebounds and four blocked shots from Merrily Jones.
