OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Senior defender
Peyton Rhyne scored for The Evergreen State College from 24 yards out in the first half, and the Geoducks kept Bushnell University off the scoreboard, in a 1-0 win over the Beacons on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Geoduck Pitch. Rhyne leads the Geoducks with four goals on the season.
The scoring play began with a free kick taken by

Evergreen improved to 1-6-3 on the season, 1-4-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Bushnell dropped to 3-10-0, including 1-6-0 in the CCC.
"We love playing at home," Evergreen Head Women's Soccer Coach
Kate Green said. "Peyton stepped up as a senior to get a goal. Shes been searching for one for a few games now. Anna kept the shutout with two big saves to keep us ahead in the game. Hopefully, these three points (in the standings) will add some motivation for the weeks ahead."
After Rhyne's goal, Evergreen's defense kept the 1-0 lead intact the rest of the way. Goalkeeper
Anna Varela (Jr.) earned four saves for the Geoducks to complete the shutout. One of Varela's saves was on a shot by Indiana Chambers at 40:34 as the game neared halftime. Varela added three saves in the second half, including another stop on a shot by Chambers at 57:08.
Just over 72 minutes into the game, Evergreen nearly increased its lead. Rhyne shot from 12 yards out near the left post. Her shot went past Bushnell goalie Keira Wilkins but hit the post.
The Beacons held a 12-4 advantage in total shots and a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. Bushnell also claimed a 4-3 margin in corner kicks.
