The Evergreen State College Geoducks traveled to Oregon this weekend to compete at a pair of invites with the George Fox Indoor Meet #2, held on Saturday at their Multi-Use Facility in Newberg, and the Portland Indoor Meet #3, held at University of Portland in the Chiles Center on Sunday.
Junior Corona Parker represented the Geoducks amazingly well on Saturday setting a school record in the Shot Put (9.28 Meters), placing 2nd in the High Jump (1.54 Meters), and setting a personal best in the 60 Hurdles (9.61). All three performances made evergreen's all-time list, with the hurdles being the second-best performance in school history! Returning to the track was junior Abigail Strickland, who set a personal best in the 60 Hurdles (10.42), while junior Iris Campesino ran a PR in the 60 Meters (9.19), placing 4th in her heat. Abigail and Iris's times are both 3rd best performances in school history.
Sunday's meet at Portland Indoor Meet #3 was highlighted by freshman Mark Tiersma, posting the 2nd best mile performance in evergreen history with a time of 4:34.80. Also competing in the mile was freshman Kaleb Everson, who posted a time of 5:29.67. No better event to end the day for the Geoducks, than the women's 200. Abigail and sophomore Nadya Miller posted the 3rd and 4th best times in school history with performances of 30.43 and 32.54, respectfully.
"HUGE weekend for the Geoducks, especially Corona and Mark!" Head Coach Joel Pearson said. "I'm very proud of Corona, Abigail, Iris, Nadya, Mark, and Kaleb, and love being a leader of this great family!"
