The Evergreen State College Track & Field programs competed on Friday the 12
th, and Saturday the 13
th, at the
Larry Byerly L&C Invite, hosted by Lewis and Clark College at their Eldon Fix Track & Field Complex in Portland.
Highlighting the invite was three spectacular school record performances, set on Saturday, by three different Geoducks! Junior
Jalyn Sackrider set the tone by breaking her own school record in the Discus with a throw of 39.09 meters, good enough to place her 3
rd place out of 53 competitors! Sophomore Alauna Castens also took home a bronze, out of 54 competitors, in the Women's 1500 with a school record in 4:34.92, also an NAIA 'A' National Standard. Junior
Corona Parker broke an 8-year school record in the Women's 100 hurdles with a time of 15.26. The 2016 record was set by Irene Moore, with a time of 15.49.
"It's great going head-to-head with other college divisions and coming away with high finishes." Said Assistant Coach Katie Burnett. "There is more work to do as we get closer to conference, but I'm excited by how much progress we have already made!"

Tanisha Engram set a personal best in the shot put, while junior
Olivia Pare ran her first collegiate competition in the 5k with a time of 24:29.72, good for a personal best!
"Another great, great weekend to be a Geoduck!" Stated Head Coach Joel Pearson, "Seeing three school records, top finishes, a National 'A' Standard, and lots of personal bests really made me happy. I am excited for Corona at Conference next week, as well as heading back to Ellensburg!"
Geoducks return to action next Thursday and Friday for
Corona Parker at the CCC Multi-Events Championships
at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. The rest of the family will compete in Ellensburg at the CWU Wildcat Invite.
