SEATTLE, Wash. --
Alauna Carstens (Jr.) from The Evergreen State College set an NAIA "A" national qualifying standard, while
Corona Parker (Sr.) and Max Baeder (So.) each set a school record, at the UW Indoor Preview on Friday, Jan. 17. The meet was hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor track and field facility.
Carstens registered her NAIA 'A" national qualifying result in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:56.75. The NAIA 'A" standard for the indoor season is 9:57.50. On Friday, she placed 38th overall against a talented field of athletes from all levels of collegiate competition. Unattached runner Melissa Tanaka won the women's 3,000 in 9:05.28.
Parker tied her own indoor school record by clearing 1.55 meters (5' 1") in the high jump. She tied for 10th place in the event on Friday.

Baeder completed the men's 3,000-meter run in 8:58.98 to break the previous indoor school record by just under six seconds. The previous record for the Geoducks of 9:04.79 was set by Brian Rakestraw in 2009.
Evergreen will compete at the University of Washington again on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Mile City meet. The event will feature men's and women's competition in the mile run at the Dempsey Indoor track and field facility. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. PST.
