OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College is ranked fourth in the 2025-26 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Wrestling Preseason Poll released by the conference office. The Geoducks will open the season at the Simon Fraser University International Open on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Evergreen is entering its third season of intercollegiate competition in women's wrestling. Last year, the Geoducks placed fourth at the 2025 CCC Championship Tournament and finished in 16th place at the 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships. Evergreen has the only four-year collegiate women's wrestling program in the State of Washington.
University of Providence (Mont.) was ranked first in this year's Preseason Poll with 62 points and six of eight first place votes. The Argos were second in the CCC in 2024-25 and took sixth place at the NAIA Championships. Southern Oregon University followed in second place in the poll with 58 points and two first place votes. SOU won the CCC Women's Wrestling Championship last season and finished seventh at the NAIA Championships.
The polls continued with Eastern Oregon University in third with 43 points. Evergreen was right behind the Mountaineers, as the Geoducks were fourth with 42 points. Westcliff University (Calif.) was listed fifth with 34 points, and Simpson University (Calif.) was sixth with 21 points. Arizona Christian University held seventh place with 17 points. Hope International University (Calif.) was ranked eighth with 11 points.
Key returning wrestlers for the Geoducks include
Flor Parker Borrero (Sr.),
Nizhoni Tallman (Sr.), and
Shannon Workinger (Jr.).
Parker Borrero was an NAIA All-American in 2023-24 and 2024-25. In 2023-24, she placed sixth at the NAIA Championships in the 155-pound weight class. In 2024-25, she took third place in the 160-pound weight class and received an award for the Most Pins in the Fastest Time during the championship event. Parker Borrero won the CCC Championship at 160 pounds last season, while earning CCC Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet. She has been named All-CCC twice.Â
Tallman was an NAIA All-American for the Geoducks in 2024-25, when she placed eighth at the NAIA Championships in the 110-pound weight class. Workinger transferred to Evergreen from Menlo College in California before redshirting in 2024-25. She took second place at the U-23 National Championships in the 68-kilogram weight class in 2025 to qualify for the USA National Team.
Top newcomers for Evergreen this season are Haley Le, a transfer student-athlete from North Central College in Illinois, and Ruby Clark from Toppenish High School in Washington. Le won three State Championships as a high school wrestler in Oregon. Clark won a Regional Championship and place at the Washington State Championships.
