Evergreen is Ranked #13 in NAIA Women's Wrestling Poll

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College women's wrestling team is ranked #13 in the first regular season NAIA Women's Wrestling Top 20 Poll for the 2025-26 season. Evergreen moved up three spots from the Preseason Poll. In addition, five Geoducks are nationally ranked in their respective weight classes.

The top team in this week's NAIA Poll was Life University (Ga.) with 189 points. Grand View University (Iowa) was listed #2 with 172 points, and William Penn University (Iowa) held the #3 ranking with 161 points. University of Providence (Mont.) from the Cascade Collegiate Conference was #4 with 156 points. Indiana Tech followed at #5 with 128 points. Evergreen was #13 with 71 points.

Evergreen and Providence were joined by CCC foe Southern Oregon University in the Top 20. SOU was ranked just behind the Geoducks at #14 with 69 points. Eastern Oregon University and Westcliff University (Calif.) received votes but were not in the Top 20.

Geoduck wrestlers included in this week's NAIA individual rankings were Flor Parker Borrero (Sr.) in the 145-pound weight class, Nizhoni Tallman (Sr.) in the 110-pound weight class, and Shannon Workinger (Jr.) in the 160-pound weight class, Ellabelle Taylor (Jr.) in the 124-pound weight class, and Erica Grant (Jr.) in the 131-pound weight class.

Parker Borrero was ranked #3 at 145 points. She returns to the Geoducks after being an NAIA All-American in 2023-24 and 2024-25. In 2023-24, she placed sixth at the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships in the 155-pound weight class. In 2024-25, Parker Borrero took third place at the NAIA Championships at 160 pounds. She enters the 2025-26 season as Evergreen's career record holder with 42 wins. She owns a 42-6 career record.

In the rankings for the 145-pound weight class, Esther Kolawole from William Penn was listed at #1. Jordan Suarez of Wayland Baptist University (Texas) was #2, and Parker Borrero was #3. Hayden Newberg from Indian Tech held the #4 ranking, while Corin Lowe of Oklahoma City University was #5.

Tallman was listed at #6 this week in the 110-pound weight class. She was an All-American in 2024-25 after taking eight place at the NAIA Championships and also competed at the NAIA Championships i 2023-24. Tallman entered the season in second place on Evergreen's career list with 33 wins.

The rankings at 110 pounds were topped by Paige Morales from Providence. Alexsys Jacquez from University of Saint Mary (Kan.) was ranked #2. Avy Perez of William Penn was #3.

At 160 pounds, Workinger was tied for #6 in the rankings with Aspen Barber from Doane University (Neb.). Workinger qualified for the USA National Team last season. In this week's poll, Latifah McBryde from Life was the #1 wrestler in the 160-pound weight class. Micah Fisher-Miller from University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) was #2 and Allyssa Johnson of Wayland Baptist was #3.

Taylor held the #8 ranking for the Geoducks in the 124-pound weight class. Taylor was the winner in the 124-pound bracket at the Mike Clock Open this past weekend with a 4-0 record, as she earned two victories with pins and two wins by technical falls. She competed at the NAIA Championships in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. This week's rankings at 124 pounds included Cristelle Rodriguez of Doane at #1, Catharine Campbell of Grand View at #2, and Jasmina Immaeva from Missouri Valley College at #3.

Grant was ranked #16 this week in the 131-pound weight class. She competed at the NAIA Championships for the Geoducks in 2023-24. Leading this week's list of top wrestlers at 131 pounds were Jumoke Adekoye from Dickinson State University (N.D.) at #1, Sarah Savidge of Life at #2, and Olivia Mottley from Life at #3.

The Geoducks will be in action on Saturday, Nov. 29 with a pair of dual meets at the Costantino Recreation Center on the Evergreen campus. Evergreen will take on Big Bend Community College (Wash.) at 1 p.m. PST, and will compete against Linfield University (Ore.) at 2 p.m. PST.
