OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College men's wrestling team received votes in the NAIA Men's Wrestling Top 25 Poll released on Thursday, Nov. 20. Evergreen did not receive enough points to be ranked in the Top 25. In addition,
Horacio Godinez (So.) was ranked #24 in the 141-pound weight class.
The top team in this week's NAIA Poll was Grand View University (Iowa) with 240 points. Life University (Ga.) held the #2 ranking with 221 points, and Southeastern University (Fla.) was third at 208. Indiana Tech followed at #4 with 196 points. Oklahoma City University was #5 with 197 points.
Cascade Collegiate Conference teams ranked in the Top 25 were Southern Oregon University at #7, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) at #11, University of Providence (Mont.) at #14, plus Arizona Christian University and Corban University tied at #17, Eastern Oregon University at #22, and Montana State University-Northern tied for #25. Evergreen and Westcliff University (Calif.) received votes.
Godinez was ranked in the 141-pound weight class for the first time this season. He earned the #24 ranking after taking second place at 141 pounds during the Mike Clock Open at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, on Nov. 9. Godinez was 5-1 during the tournament, losing only in the championship match by a single point.
The Geoducks will be wrestling at the Spokane Open on Sunday, Nov. 23. The tournament will be held at The Podium, starting at 9 a.m. PST.
