SALEM, Ore. -- The Evergreen State College track and field teams competed at the Corban Indoor Open on Saturday, Feb. 1. The meet was held at Corban University's Outdoor Athletic Complex. Leading the way for the Geoducks was
Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) in the 3,000-meter race walk, as she qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships and the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships.
Trefts completed the race walk in 14:24.70 to earn her berths in to the NAIA and USATF championship events. She also set the Evergreen school record and is ranked second in the NAIA this season.

Katie Burnett also participated in the 3,000-meter race walk on Saturday. Her time was 14:15.74.
Burnett was thrilled with Trefts' performance. "Izabelle raced well today! I'm so excited to head to Florida later this month and see her compete back on the national stage," Burnett said.
Haley Steen (Fr.) earned a time of 1:15.50 for Evergreen in the women's 400-meter dash.
Maddie Morgan (Jr.) ran the 60-meter hurdles in 10.93 seconds, while
Iris Campesino (Jr.) completed the 60-meter dash in 9.08 seconds.
Three Geoducks competed in the women's 3,000-meter run.
Sherlyn Perales (Fr.) was timed at 11:33.75.
Madison Palek (So.) crossed the finish line in 11:56.05 and
Mara Schwenneker (Jr.) achieved a time of 11:42.71.
Tanisha Engram (So.) of Evergreen registered a throw of 8.26 meters (27' 1.25") in the women's shot put. In the women's weight throw,
Claire Ryan (So.) earned a toss of 11.64Â meters (38' 2.25") to set a school record.Â
Katie Gresham (Fr.) threw the weight 8.20 meters (26' 11").
In the men's 3,000-meter race walk,
River Scheuerell (Sr.) of Evergreen attained a time of 17:21.91. He is ranked in the Top 30 in the NAIA this season.
Rowan Hicks (So.) represented the Geoducks in the men's 1,000-meter run and finished the race in 2:41.00.
A total of five TESC athletes participated in the men's 3,000-meter run.
Luis Esquivel (Fr.) reached the finish line in 9:17.53.
Harlan Estrada (Jr.) was timed at 9:44.54 and
Charles Norris (Fr.) earned a time of 10:05.91.
Osvaldo Calderon (Fr.) completed the race in 10:19.22.
Kaleb Everson (So.) was timed at 10:35.77.
Paul Stewart (So.) competed for Evergreen in the men's weight throw. He registered a top throw of 10.87 meters (35' 8").
The meet included athletes from Corban, Evergreen, and Multnomah, plus unattached competitors. Oregon Tech was scheduled to compete but was unable to travel due to the weather.
Up next for the Geoducks is the Riverfront Invitational and Multis from Thursday, Feb. 6 through Saturday, Feb. 9. The meet will be held at The Podium in Spokane, Washington.
