CCC Track and Field Championships Preview

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 in Ashland, Oregon. Southern Oregon University will host the meet.

A total of 10 athletes will participate in the CCC Championships. Six members of the women's team will participate in a total of nine events. Four members of the men's team will compete in a total of five events.

"I am really excited heading into the championship season," Evergreen Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Joel Pearson said. "Our student-athletes are ready to represent Evergreen well and showcase their talent and hard work throughout the season.

"The Conference Championships will be a good tune up for Corona Parker Izabelle Trefts, and Alauna Carstens as they prepare for the NAIA National Championships later this month in Indiana," Pearson added.

Alauna Carstens (Jr.) is entered in the women's 5,000-meter run and the women's 10,000-meter run. She has already qualified for the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in both events. Her top time in the 5,000 is a school record 16:55.87. Carstens also set a school record in the 10,000 at 35:33.05.

Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) and Abigail Strickland (Sr.) also will compete in two events at the CCC Championships.

Izabelle Trefts runs for the Evergreen Geoducks.Trefts will represent the Geoducks in the women's 5,000-meter race walk and the women's 5,000-meter run. Her top time in the 5,000-meter race walk is a school record of 23:01.80, which qualified her for the NAIA Championships. Her best result of the season in the 5000-meter run is 18:52.59.

Strickland's two CCC events will be the 400-meter hurdles and the hammer throw. In the 400 hurdles, she has registered a time of 1:12.02. Strickland's top distance in the hammer throw is 39.95 meters (131' 1").

Evergreen's Claire Ryan (So.) will join Strickland in the women's hammer throw. Ryan's top mark of the season is 129' 2".

Corona Parker (Sr.) is entered in the women's high jump this weekend. She has already qualified for the NAIA Championships with a school record height of 1.66 meters (5' 5.25").

Competing in the women's discus throw for Evergreen will be Jalyn Sackrider (Sr.). Her best throw of the season is 37.80 meters (124' 0").

Max Baeder (So.) from the Evergreen men's team is entered at the CCC Championships in the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run. He has recorded a top time of 15:17.97 in the 5,000.

Rowan Hicks (So.) is set to compete in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. He earned a top time of 10:10.34 in the steeplechase this year.

In the men's 5,000-meter race walk, the Geoducks will be represented by River Scheuerell. Last year, Scheuerell qualified for the NAIA Championships with a time of 24:31.93 at the 2024 CCC Championships.

Paul Stewart (So.) will participate in the men's hammer throw. His top toss of the season covered 39.97 meters (131' 1").

This weekend's championship competition will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. PDT. On Saturday, the schedule will begin with a graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. followed by event competition starting at 10:30 a.m.
