GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) from The Evergreen State College has qualified for the final in the women's 3,000-meter race walk at the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Trefts earned the fastest time in the preliminary heats on Thursday, Feb. 27. She will be one of 12 competitors in the final on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10:45 a.m. EST / 7:45 a.m. PST.

Trefts won the second heat with a time of 15:58.22. Alexa Governor from University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) took first place in the first heat at 16:06.89. Ashlyn Poulin of Southeastern University (Fla.) registered the second-fastest time overall while finishing behind Trefts in the second heat. Poulin's time was 16:05.82. Ava Newkirk of Cumberlands was timed at 16:07.39. Lillian Bittencourt of Cumberlands and Grace Forrest from University of Rio Grande (Ohio) each completed the race in 16:08.83. The top four finishers in each of the two heats, plus the competitors with the next four fastest times, advanced to the final.

In addition to Trefts in the final of the 3,000-meter race walk, the Geoducks will be represented by Alauna Carstens (Jr., So. in indoor track) on Friday in the prelims of the women's 3,000-meter run. Carstens will be competing in the second of two heats. The prelims in the 3,000-meter run are scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. EST / 1:15 p.m. PST.
