Van Pelt and Morgan Compete at CCC Multi-Event Meet

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Evergreen State College was represented by Jonathan Van Pelt (Fr.) and Maddie Morgan (Jr.) at the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18. Van Pelt competed in the 10 events of the men's decathlon, while Morgan participated in the seven events of the women's heptathlon.

Van Pelt set a personal record with an overall decathlon score of 4,652 points as he placed 10th in the CCC. He also set personal records in the pole vault at 3.70 meters (12' 1.50") and in the 1,500-meter run in 5:45.04.

He claimed his top score in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.14 seconds for 624 points. In the long jump, Van Pelt leaped 5.97 meters (19' 7") for 580 points. His success in the pole vault earned 535 points.

Van Pelt's top finishes against the other competitors were fifth place in the shot put on the first day and fifth place in the pole vault on the second day. In the shot put, he registered a top distance of 10.39 meters (34' 1.25"). He placed seventh in the discus throw at 29.61 meters (97' 1") and finished seventh in the long jump.

She added personal-best performances in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 19.31 seconds, and in the 200-meter dash, at 31.31 seconds. Morgan received 394 points in the 200 and gained 362 points in the 100 hurdles.

She added 367 points in the long jump while taking eighth place at 4.25 meters (13' 11.50"). In addition, Morgan achieved a top throw of 6.52 meters (21' 4.75") in the shot put.

Justin Krabbenhoft from Eastern Oregon University led the decathlon at the end of the first day and went on to win the competition with 6,623 points. Tyler Jones from Eastern Oregon took second place with 6,143, and Coleton Urquhart of Southern Oregon University was third at 6,019 points.

The heptathlon champion was Abi Stevens of Southern Oregon with an overall score of 4,995 points. Adrienne Washington from EOU was second at 4,771 points and Mattie Shirts from College of Idaho was third with 4,209 points.

Evergreen's track and field teams will compete at the 2025 CCC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.
