Sandoval Receives Student Civic Leadership Award

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Jeramias Sandoval (Jr.) of The Evergreen State College men's wrestling team received the 2025 Student Civic Leadership Award earlier this spring during an awards ceremony at Seattle University. Also receiving the award from Evergreen was Zoey Knox. Sandoval is from Tacoma, Washington, where he attended Curtis High School. He went to Highline College before transferring to Evergreen for the 2023-24 academic year.

Evergreen President John Carmichael chose Sandoval and Knox as recipients of this year's Student Civic Leadership Award from a group of nominees. Each member college and university in the Washington Campus Coalition for the Public Good selects up two students for the Student Civic Leadership Award each year.

Governor Bob Ferguson presented the awards in Seattle. Evergreen Executive Vice President Dr. Dexter Gordon accompanied Sandoval and Knox at the awards ceremony.
