TOKYO, JAPAN –
Katie Burnett, assistant cross country and track and field coach at The Evergreen State College, will represent the United States at the 2025 World Athletics Championships on Saturday, Sept. 13 (Friday, Sept. 12 in Olympia, Washington) in the women's 35-kilometer race walk. Burnett qualified for the World Championships through a variety of races this year.
The women's 35-kilometer race walk is scheduled to being at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday (Japan time) / 3:30 p.m. on Friday (OIympia, Washington time). A total of 47 athletes will compete in the event.
Representing the USA in the women's race walk will be Burnett, along with Miranda Melville and Maria Michta-Coffey.
Burnett's season best time and career best time were both set this year when she won the 2025 USATF 35-kilometer Race Walk Championship in January in 3:05:10 (3 hours, 5 minutes, 10 seconds). She has won a total of five USATF National Championships at four different distances in race walking.
