Geoducks are Ranked #14 in NAIA Women's Wrestling Poll

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College women's wrestling team moved up one spot to #14 in the most recent NAIA Women's Wrestling Top 20 Poll for the 2025-26 season released on Jan. 1. Evergreen continued to be represented by six wrestlers in the individual national rankings for their respective weight classes.

Holding into the #1 ranking in the NAIA Poll was Life University (Ga.) with 209 points. Life also was #1 in the previous poll. University of Providence (Mont.) from the Cascade Collegiate Conference remained #2 with 186 points. Grand View University (Iowa) stayed at #3 with 177 points. William Penn University (Iowa) was #4 with 172 points and Lindsey Wilson University (Ky.) followed at #5 with 138 points. Evergreen was #14 with 72 points.

Evergreen and Providence were joined by one other CCC team in the NAIA Poll, as Southern Oregon University continued to be ranked #11. Eastern Oregon University, Westcliff University (Calif.), and Arizona Christian University, all from the CCC, received votes this week, but were not in the Top 20.

The six Evergreen wrestlers included in this week's NAIA individual rankings remained Flor Parker Borrero (Sr.) in the 145-pound weight class, Shannon Workinger (Jr.) in the 160-pound weight class, Ellabelle Taylor (Jr.) in the 124-pound weight class, Haley Le (Fr.) in the 138-pound weight class, Nizhoni Tallman (Sr.) in the 110-pound weight class, and Erica Grant (Jr.) in the 131-pound weight class.

Parker Borrero owned the #3 ranking at 145 pounds. She was an NAIA All-American in 2023-24 (6th place at 155 pounds) and 2024-25 (3rd place at 160 pounds). The #1 wrestler in the weight class this week was Esther Kolawole of William Penn. Jordan Suarez from Wayland Baptist was #2. After Parker Borrero was Amelia Fawcett of Life University at #4. Sarina Bertram from Missouri Valley College was #5.

In the 160-pound weight class, Workinger held the #4 ranking. The #1 spot at 160 pounds went to Latifah McBryde of Life University. Allyssa Johnson of Central Methodist University (Mo.) was #2 and Mercy Adekuoroye of Wayland Baptist was #3. Micah Fisher-Miller from University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) continued to be ranked #5.

Taylor was listed at #9 for the Geoducks in the rankings for 124 pounds. Cristelle Rodriguez of Doane University (Neb.) topped the 124-pound list. Victoria Baez Dilone from William Penn was ranked #2, while Alyssa Randles from Providence was ranked #3.

Haley Le of Evergreen was ranked #12 at 138 pounds. Zaynah McBryde of Life was ranked #1. Samantha Barragan of Texas Wesleyan University was #2. Reagen Gallaway from Hastings College (Neb.) was listed at #3.

In the rankings at 110 pounds, Tallman remained #14. Tallman earned NAIA All-American honors in 2024-25 (8th place at 110 pounds). Ranked #1 at 110 pounds this week was Ariana Martinez of Life. Emma Jones of Indiana Tech was ranked #2 and Paige Morales from Providence was ranked #3.

Grant remained #18 for the Geoducks at 131 pounds. Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp from Providence stayed at #1 and Jumoke Adekoye of Dickinson State University (N.D.) stayed at #2. Devin Patton of William Penn continued to hold the #3 ranking.

Evergreen's next action will be at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, set for the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10. The meet will feature many of the top women's wrestling teams in the nation. Evergreen will open the 16-team NAIA dual bracket against #8-seeded Texas Wesleyan University at 10 a.m. CST /  8 a.m. PST.
