Frohlich-Fair Chosen CCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Tony Frohlich-Fair (Sr., W) on The Evergreen State College men's basketball team has been selected as the Cascade Collegiate Conference McDonald's Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network. The honor was announced by the CCC Office on Monday, Jan. 26. It was the second time Frohlich-Fair was chosen for the award this month. He also was honored on Jan. 5.

Frohlich-Fair averaged 34.0 points per game this past week. He scored 35 points against Southern Oregon on Friday, Jan. 23 and recorded 33 points against #21 Oregon Tech on Saturday, Jan. 24. He has scored 32 or more points in three of the last four games and four of the last seven. His 35-point outburst against SOU was just two points short of his career-high of 37 points, scored in a 104-96 overtime win at Corban University on Jan. 3. 

During the past week, Frohlich-Fair shot 63.4% from the field (26 of 41) and made 2 of 4 three-pointers. He was 14 for 19 (73.7%) on free throws. He averaged 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. For the season, Frohlich-Fair leads the CCC in scoring and is fourth in the NAIA with 25.4 points per game. He has scored in double figures in all 14 games and has provided at least 20 points in 10 games.

Last week, the Geoducks lost two competitive games. Southern Oregon defeated the Geoducks 97-89. The Raiders held a slim 83-81 lead with 3:47 to go but closed the game with a 14-8 run. Oregon Tech, ranked #21 in the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, edged out Evergreen 88-83. The Geoducks led 45-35 at halftime, before the Owls rallied in the second half.

In addition to leading Evergreen and the CCC in scoring, Frohlich-Fair is the Geoducks' season leader with 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He is tied for the team lead with 1.6 steals per game and is tied for second with 0.4 blocked shots per game. For the season, he is shooting 51.3% from the field, 41.7% on 3-pointers, and 80.9% on free throws.

Evergreen will host Corban on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Costantino Recreation Center. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. PST.
